Bottom of the Jar Review: K18 AirWash Dry Shampoo

This is a bottom of the jar review, meaning I used the whole thing before giving you my honest opinion. And I'll just say it up front: this stuff is absolute sorcery.

What Is It?

The K18 AirWash Dry Shampoo is $48 for four ounces. It comes in a plastic sprayer with a non-aerosol pump, which is already a nice change from the aerosol cans most dry shampoos come in.

Here's the genuinely interesting part: it's not a powder like you'd typically expect from a dry shampoo. It's a liquid, with little beads inside it. You spray the liquid onto your hair, then either let it air dry or style it. I usually use my Dyson Airwrap with the brush attachment.

How It Performs

This is where it earns the "sorcery" label:

It takes your hair from looking greasy to looking fresh washed, and it lasts for days. It's absolutely incredible.

That's not a subtle refresh, it genuinely resets your hair. And unlike a lot of dry shampoos that buy you a few hours, this holds for days.

The Scent (or Lack of It)

It doesn't have a scent, which I love. I hate how heavily scented most dry shampoos are, that cloud of perfume that announces to everyone that you didn't wash your hair. This one skips it entirely, and it's a big part of why I reach for it.

The Two Downsides

I want to be straight with you about the drawbacks, because there are two real ones.

1. It Leaves White Dots on Everything

When it dries, it leaves little white dots on absolutely everything. You can see them on my Milk Makeup setting spray bottle.

So do not use this after you've already gotten dressed, especially in dark colors. I've made that mistake. Apply it before you put your clothes on and you'll avoid the whole problem.

2. Your Hair Feels a Little Tacky

Your hair does feel slightly tacky afterward. So to be precise about the trade: it doesn't feel fresh washed, but it absolutely looks fresh washed. For me that trade is more than worth it, but it's worth knowing going in.

Is It Worth $48?

Yes. $48 is real money for a dry shampoo, and I don't say this lightly, but this is the best dry shampoo I have ever used. I will repurchase it over and over again. I'm genuinely so glad I found it.

The Bottom Line

Rating: 10/10. (I actually said 1,000 out of 10 in the video, and I stand by it.)

  • Liquid, not powder, with microbeads and a non-aerosol pump
  • Takes hair from greasy to fresh-washed, and it lasts for days
  • Unscented, which is rare and wonderful in this category
  • Downside: leaves white dots on everything, so apply before getting dressed, especially in dark clothing
  • Downside: hair feels a bit tacky, it looks fresh washed rather than feels it
  • Worth the $48, and I'll keep repurchasing

If you're a dry shampoo person, this is the one. Just get dressed after you use it. For more of what I actually keep using, see my other bottom of the jar reviews.
