Let's do a bottom of the jar review, which means I used every last drop before telling you what I think. This is the ZO Exfoliating Polish, and it's one of my absolute favorites from their line.
Short version: 10 out of 10. It's expensive, and I just can't quit it. I've repurchased it a million different times.
It's exactly what it sounds like: a scrub. Specifically, it's a mechanical exfoliant. It has little magnesium oxide crystals that you rub into your skin to take off dead skin cells.
Think of this as the adult-safe St. Ives Apricot Scrub.
The product itself is a blue scrub with a clean, botanical smell. It doesn't smell chemical or weird. It just smells really clean and nice.
I buy both, and the small one comes with me when I travel.
ZO sells it through its network of physicians and skincare professionals, so you won't find it on a drugstore shelf.
I use it a couple of days a week. ZO recommends starting a few times a week and working up to daily, but I don't find that I need it that often.
It also has a form of vitamin C (tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate, a stable form). ZO says the scrub helps the vitamin C get deeper into the skin.
After using it, my skin always feels really smooth and really soft, and my makeup goes on beautifully.
I don't have a lot of pigmentation issues myself, but I have friends who use this who say it's amazing for improving the pigmentation and evenness of their skin. (If you're dealing with dark spots left behind by a scar or an injury, here's how I treat post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.)
If you'd rather exfoliate with acids than a scrub, I've also reviewed glycolic and lactic acid pads I like.
It's expensive, and I keep buying it anyway. It leaves my skin soft and smooth, it smells clean, and I've repurchased it in both the large and the travel size more times than I can count.
Totally worth it.
